The AAC is committed to supporting the needs of our affiliate parishes, ministries, chapters and lay affiliates by providing free educational material on topics that are relevant.  This current offering is made up of three entirely different types of materials.  Other materials are in the works.

• Kathi Fairman has made her excellent class What On Earth is Happening in the Anglican Communion? available on the AAC website.  The class materials include a Leader's Guide, handouts for participants and PowerPoint slides for all four classes. Scroll down the page for more information. 

• Engaging the Culture is an evangelism course designed to prepare orthodox Christians to engage with people who are currently hostile or disinterested in Christianity.  It draws together the work of two experienced and inspiring evangelists: Nick Pollard and Dr. James W. Sire (both published by InterVarsity Press) into a 12 class course and offers PowerPoint visuals, case studies and exercises with a Leader's Guide and a Participant Guide. • Church Planting Basics is a booklet developed by the AAC staff which was developed because of the many request from lay people for information on how to plant new churches.  The booklet contains practical ideas about team building, some considerations for setting up the administration as well as the spiritual aspect of discerning if the new church plant is God's will. "What (on Earth) is Happening in the Anglican Communion?"

A four-part course in a compelling format, designed to educate the faithful about current events within the Episcopal Church and their impact on parishes today.

Developed by an award-winning researcher and built on solid educational principles, this four-session class features a non-threatening, fact-based approach that helps to open minds and hearts to our obligations as brothers and sisters in Christ within the worldwide Anglican Communion.  Survey data, eye-catching graphics, and powerful quotations reveal 40 years of increasing heresy and declining faith practices, documenting the many ways in which the Episcopal Church has departed from the Anglican tradition.  The course concludes with a "What Do I Believe?" meditation.  Especially helpful for ambivalent laity.

Kathi Fairman is making her excellent class available free on the AAC web site.  This is an updated version of the same class featured in a previous Encompass and at one time orderable through her parish.  The demand for the class has continued and the objective is to facilitate the ordering and satisfy the demand and release of the material.  If you request the material your information will be forwarded to Kathi.  Once Kathi approves the release you will be able to access the class materials through a pass-word protected FTP site and then complete the process by emailing Kathi for a copyright release.  She encourages you to personalize the material to fit your congregation.

Engaging the Culture     

"Engaging the Culture” is an AAC evangelism course created to help orthodox Christians dialogue with people influenced by the new atheists, secular Christianity, and our multi-cultured society. The course contains 12 classes and brings together the efforts of two men who have built their life work around reaching people for Christ: Nick Pollard and Dr. James W. Sire.
     
Nick Pollard authored the book which inspired our course, entitled Evangelism Made Slightly Less Difficult: How to Interest People who Aren’t Interested, IVP, 1997.   Nick’s insights and processes about reaching the overwhelmingly disinterested with the message of the Gospel form the backbone of this course.

Likewise, the other pivotal author that served as a fundamental resource for this course, Dr. James W. Sire, authored The Universe Next Door, IVP, 2004, which has sold over a quarter-million copies to date. Dr. Sire’s work provides the language and core concepts necessary to facilitate conversation with people who see the world from perspectives that we may not be familiar with. His text goes in depth, explaining the key points of commonly (but subtly) held worldviews and is extremely thought provoking.

From culturally relevant case studies to innovative group activities, this course has it all!! We invite you to use this course, free of charge with the exception that participants must have both books.   The AAC course integrates the work of Nick Pollard and Dr. Sire into a Leader’s Guide, a Participant’s manual, 174 PowerPoint slides, and 10 case study situations that invite dialog and build practical understanding.  Thanks to IVP for allowing the AAC to make this course available.
