Atlanta, GA - The American Anglican Council congratulates Archbishop Nicholas Okoh and gladly welcomes his election as the next primate of the Anglican Church of Nigeria, the largest province in the Anglican Communion.
"We have been tremendously blessed to work with and benefit from the leadership of the current primate, Archbishop Akinola, and look forward to the leadership of Primate-elect Okoh," said the Rt. Rev. David C. Anderson, American Anglican Council president and CEO and suffragan bishop for the Convocation of Anglicans in North America (CANA), a missionary initiative of the Church of Nigeria. "I know from having personally worked with Archbishop Okoh that, like his predecessor, he brings Godly wisdom, strong leadership and theological depth to this key position. He and the entire Church of Nigeria have our continued prayers and support. The Church of Nigeria is a vibrant church and a wonderful example of what God can do. "
